Dr. Richard Heath

Dr. Richard Heath joined the College in 1996. His previous work included Chief Psychologist of the Learning Disabilities Unit of the SUNY College of Optometry, psychologist at the Hallen School formerly in Mamaroneck, NY, adjunct instructor at Ramapo College and Mercy College. He has had private practices in psychology in Westchester and Manhattan. Clinical specialties are the assessment of adolescents and adults with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders, and he was an expert witness in Bartlett v. New York State Board of Law Examiners. Dr. Heath has presented on learning disabilities assessment both in the US and Brazil.

Dr. Heath is a New York State Licensed Psychologist. From 1999 through 2020, Dr. Heath was Director of Pathways, the College’s structured support program for selected students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.

Teaching interests include Psychology of Harry Potter, Psychology of Literature, Personality Theories, Psychological Testing, Statistics, Adolescent Psychology, among many others, and he enjoys working with students on independent studies in psychology. Some of his favorite pastimes include reading, baking, knitting, watching British sitcoms and Britcrimes on TV, “old” films (the more sentimental, the better), listening to music (especially classical and alternative). He also notes his love of Harry Potter, Christmas, Halloween, dark chocolate, dogs, and my honorary grandchildren.
