MsEd, Special Education With Specialization In Autism

Ignite your impact as a special educator in St. Thomas Aquinas College’s master’s program in special education with an Autism specialization. Our comprehensive program will prepare you to teach students with special needs in inclusive settings and to serve as a lead teacher in a self-contained classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and multiple disabilities. Learn to collaborate meaningfully with parents and other educators, provide positive behavioral support, identify learning needs, and measure academic progress. 

Our faculty of nationally recognized scholars has decades of combined experience in the field of education and research, and includes faculty with specialized expertise in Autism. These supportive mentors will guide you through your academic journey to realize your potential as a skilled educator and Autism specialist capable of meeting the diverse needs of all students. You will not only deepen your knowledge and bring new understanding, skills, and methods to the classroom, but you will be empowered to make significant contributions to the field through specialization, and a range of leadership roles in special education.

Program options

The MSED in Special Education equips today’s educators with advanced training to work with students with special needs, with an emphasis on Autism. Choose to focus on one of two student populations: Grades 1-6 or Grades 7-12.

In addition to the MSED in Special Education with an Autism Specialization, St. Thomas Aquinas College also offers master’s programs in Special Education and Literacy.
