Eliza Doba ’25, a senior Biology major at St. Thomas Aquinas College, recently had the opportunity to participate in the National Research Conference at the University of Pennysylvania, where she presented her research and IGNITE poster. Eliza notes: “It was an enriching experience where I got to showcase my work and connect with others passionate about similar topics.”
Eliza has also shared her advice, noting helpful ways for students to dive right in once they begin their college journey: “Begin exploring opportunities and gaining experience as early in your college years as possible. The earlier you start, the more time you have to discover your interests, build skills, and make valuable connections. Make the most of college resources, like the Career Center, or faculty networks to find internships. Also, don’t hesitate to put yourself out there — whether it’s applying for roles or presenting your work, these experiences are invaluable. And remember, it’s okay if not everything goes as planned, it’s all part of the learning process.”
