Sydney Fernandez ’27 is a Finance major at St. Thomas Aquinas College who recently studied abroad. One of Sydney’s favorite cultural experiences during her study abroad journey was in Paris: “It was so amazing to discover the beautiful city just by walking in the streets. From visiting the Louvre, to eating a baguette, and seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night was unforgettable.”
During her study abroad experience, Sydney took a course that stood out to her: The City of Rome. Sydney learned about the rich history of Rome and its origins. Each class took its students to new locations in the city as an experiential learning opportunity, which truly brought history to life.
Studying abroad is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture, step outside your comfort zone, and grow both academically and personally. The College is committed to providing transformational and experiential learning opportunities for our students, and Sydney’s study abroad experience certainly ignited her passion for travel and history: “My advice to anyone who is thinking about studying abroad would be to go for it, even if you are unsure. It is a life changing experience and offers memories you’ll never forget!”
