During his time at St. Thomas Aquinas College, Ibrahim Conteh ’26 has embraced a wide range of experiences—both uplifting and challenging—that have shaped him into the student he is today. Ibrahim is studying Secondary English Education (7-12), and so many moments on campus have helped shape his sense of purpose.

One of the defining highlights of Ibrahim’s STAC journey came during the 2023–2024 academic year, when he served as Student Assistant and Creative Content Director for the Men’s Basketball program. Being part of the team’s 2024 ECC Championship run was a milestone he’ll never forget. Witnessing the dedication, discipline, and unity among the players and coaching staff was one of the most special moments of his college experience.

As an aspiring English teacher, Ibrahim has been deeply influenced by faculty members such as Dr. Lo, Dr. Shultz, Professor Rockwell, and Dr. Rothschild. Their rigorous, thought-provoking, and insightful courses challenged him to grow academically and personally. A standout course was Adolescent Psychology with Professor Rockwell, whose passion for education and commitment to her students solidified his desire to become the best educator he can be. He notes that her classroom always provided a vibrant atmosphere, and he felt supported in that setting.

Reflecting on his journey, Ibrahim offers two pieces of advice to students beginning their college journey. “For one, you must obtain a love of learning. A love to inquire, a love to think, and a love to expand your horizons beyond their capabilities. STAC has opened my eyes to a plethora of ideas, cultures, and perspectives that have permitted me to want to grow and learn more. My second word of advice would be to always be where your feet are. In rudimentary terms, always stay focused on not only what is important, but what is in front of you. Oftentimes, it is very easy to become overwhelmed, or feel like you have to get so many things done at once that you end up losing your sense of self. It is always okay to take a moment to breathe. If you try to catch two bunnies at once, you will end up losing them both.”
