Boglarka (Bogi) Kiss ’27 is a driven student-athlete, studying Finance with a minor in Data Analytics. Throughout her years at STAC, Bogi has been shaped by her academic, athletic, and professional experiences as she prepares for a career in business and finance.
Bogi’s advice for students beginning their college journey is to take advantage of the opportunities offered and not to be afraid of putting yourself out there: “I got my internship because I attended a Business Club meeting where an alumni was the guest speaker. I introduced myself, connected with her, and asked whether her company had any internship opportunities. If I hadn’t asked, I might never have had that experience. Sometimes, the biggest difference between having an opportunity and missing it is simply being willing to ask. You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you don’t need to feel completely ready. Introduce yourself, ask questions, build relationships, and be open to trying things that might feel uncomfortable at first. Your next opportunity could come from a conversation you almost didn’t have.”
During her internship, Bogi enjoyed “learning by doing” the most: “I had studied Excel in class, but working with a real company’s KPI data showed me how powerful those skills can be when the numbers actually matter. As the only intern on a small finance team, I was trusted with real responsibilities, and I learned that even as an intern, you can make a meaningful contribution.”
Bogi is a student-athlete on the STAC Women’s Volleyball team, and her role as a team Captain has strengthened her leadership skills: “Becoming a team captain has been especially meaningful. It has taught me that leadership is not about getting everyone to think the same way, but about bringing people together, understanding different perspectives, and working towards a common goal. That isn’t always easy, but it has helped me grow both as a leader and as a person. I will always be proud of being a college athlete. It has challenged me in ways I never expected, introduced me to people who have shaped my journey, and taught me lessons that I know I will carry with me long after my playing career ends.”
Looking forward, Bogi plans to continue her education and pursue a Master’s degree in Finance or Business. She wants to deepen her knowledge and build on what she has learned during her undergraduate studies. Once she concludes her educational journey, Bogi hopes to work on the finance side of a business, in a role where she can turn numbers into decisions that make a real difference: “I’m particularly interested in consumer-focused companies because I enjoy connecting with people and seeing how a business’s work affects its customers. In the long run, I want to be part of a company that helps people or solves real-world problems. I don’t have every step of my career figured out yet, but I know I want to keep learning, take on new challenges, and use what I learn to make a positive impact.”
