I am Dr. Sang Uk Joo, a new Associate Professor of Sport Management Studies at St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC). Before joining the STAC, I was an Associate Professor of Sport Management at Messiah University in Pennsylvania. I received my Ph.D. in Sport Studies from the University of Iowa in 2015. I received a master’s degree in Sport Management from the State University of New York at Cortland. My academic interests are centered in the areas of sport media studies and sport management. My research focuses on sport media and athletes in advertising campaigns. My most recent research entitled “The Emergence of the Asian-American Sporting Body” was accepted for publication in Journal of Sports Media. I love teaching. Since sport management is an applied science and a practice-oriented discipline, my focus is on applying classroom learning in real-world settings to provide students with practical learning experiences. I live on Long Island with my wife, Dr. Mi Ae Lee. She is also a sport management professor at Farmingdale State College. We are sports lovers. We enjoy skiing, golfing, and playing tennis. We also enjoy watching baseball.
