A graduate of the SUNY system, Chris Markham student taught in the Clarkstown Central School District in 1970 and went on to teach at Clarkstown High School North until her retirement in 2004. During her 34 years at North, she taught all levels of English and became English Department Chair in 1986. Recipient of awards from the NYS English Council, Westchester English Council, the national PTSA, and Columbia University, Markham was inducted her into the Clarkstown Central School District Academic Hall of Fame in 2008.
At STAC Markham began her second career in education as an adjunct in the Humanities Division before moving into the School of Education. As a visiting instructor, she has taught on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Currently the Director of Clinical Experience, Professor Markham facilitates fieldwork and coordinates the student teaching program with area school districts.
