Rayven Johnson, the College’s Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic Success and Senior Woman Administrator, assists student-athletes in conjunction with the Office of Academic Services.
Rayven counsels student-athletes on academic goals and concerns, serving as a liaison between the Athletic Department and Academic Success Office. She coordinates all aspects of academic support for the College’s student-athletes to ensure maximum opportunity for academic success.
As a former college athlete herself, Rayven brings her insights and experiences to her role, and ensures our Spartan student-athletes are in the best position possible to excel both academically and athletically. Rayven graduated from NJIT with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a minor in Communications in 2013. Following her undergraduate career with the NJIT Highlanders, Rayven spent three years playing basketball professionally for TK Hannover in Germany. She led Hannover to the club’s first Second Bundesliga North championship title in the 2015-16 season. In her first season with the club, she led Hannover in scoring (19.0 ppg), free throws made (145) and field goals made (131). She was named All-Second Bundesliga North Second Team and Second Bundesliga North All-Imports Team.
In her role as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), Rayven helps in decision making in the department, and is a point of contact for student-athlete and staff concerns. The SWA title designed by the NCAA recognizes the highest ranking woman involved in the management of an institution’s intercollegiate athletics program. The role helps to promote meaningful representation of women in the leadership and management of college sports.
