Madlyn, at the age of 85, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones and survived by her devoted husband, Frank J. Borelli, of 62 years and her 2 children, Frank and Rick, their wives Melissa and Suja and her six grandchildren Amanda, Riana, Danielle, Trina, Luke and Francesca.
Madlyn was known by her friends and family as a kind, compassionate and gentle lady with a big heart who was always thinking about others first. Her pleasant personality and sense of positivity was contagious to everyone she met. Although she was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis since her 20’s and confined to a wheelchair ever since, Madlyn’s faith never wavered and her continuous strength to overcome her disability and two unrelated bouts of cancer has been an inspiration to many.
She was a caring mother and grandmother and loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Feeling she was blessed, Madlyn was a very generous philanthropist whose support made possible the creation of the Madlyn Borelli Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital to help patients suffering from MS. Additionally, her strong faith and desire to help others drove her to also be a key benefactor to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale Pennsylvania, Lackawaxen Ambulance in Pike County Pennsylvania, Queen of Peace in Hawley Pennsylvania, St. Augustine’s Church in New City, St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill and the new F J Borelli Family Emergency Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
Madlyn was beloved at St. Thomas Aquinas College. Her continued support over the years enabled many students to achieve their dream of a college education. We are privileged to enter Borelli Hall everyday where a photo of Madlyn and Frank hangs in the lobby.
We were blessed to have had Madlyn, and her loving husband, Frank, an integral part of growth and success of St. Thomas Aquinas College. We will miss her dearly.
Please consider a donation to the Madlyn Borelli Scholarship Fund in memory of Madlyn. Thank you for keeping her wonderful legacy alive.
