The St. Thomas Aquinas College family is truly thrilled and honored to share that, through the generosity of her colleagues, friends and family, a scholarship in honor of Sister Peggy Scarano, O.P. ’70, has been established. Sr. Peggy is a proud member of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, founders of St. Thomas Aquinas College, and this scholarship acknowledges and celebrates her work on the College’s mission statement, as well as her embodiment of the mission’s charge to create a profound difference in the world.
The Sister Peggy Scarano Mission, Ministry, and Service Scholarship will be awarded to two students per academic year who demonstrate:
- A commitment to STAC’s vision, mission, and values — to make a profound difference in the world.
- Consistent outreach and service on or beyond STAC’s campus that deepens the student’s understanding of marginalization, privilege, and injustice and fosters deeper compassion for people of various cultures and backgrounds.
- The ability to share the results of their service experience with the College community in order to challenge, guide, and energize their fellow Spartans.
Join us in growing the Sr. Peggy Scarano Mission, Ministry, and Service Scholarship by your generous support — to whatever level you can. Invite others to join you too. Collectively, we will share the STAC mission far and wide, making a profound difference today, tomorrow, and always — just like Sr. Peggy does for us every day.
