Event coordinating has genuinely become second nature for Hospitality Management senior Payton Horan, as she couples interest with her academic studies each day. As an excited transfer student from Rockland Community College (RCC), Payton sought a school to better her studies with a community that would be a great fit for who she is.
After deciding to transfer to STAC, it thrilled Payton to become a member of the tight-knit community. Being a part of the Hospitality Management Program at St. Thomas Aquinas College has allowed Payton to broaden her horizons for her future career. “The Hospitality Program offers amazing insight into what to expect in the industry.” In addition, the students from the hospitality management program have welcomed Payton with compassion and care from the very start of her academic career at STAC.
This past summer, Payton accepted an internship opportunity with Chère Rosalie, a local wedding event planning company in Valley Cottage. Her Professor, Angela McDonnell says, “Here, she has put all of her great talents to use and has become an integral part of the event planning team. Payton earned herself a full-time position with the company upon completing her degree in 2022, because of her creativity and determination.”
When Payton is not using her creative skills in her internship role, she puts her talents to use in the kitchen. Baking is one of her favorite hobbies, especially learning how to make new desserts.
Payton’s vibrant personality within the classroom and her workplace have genuinely earned her an excellent reputation. Professor McDonnell further explains how “Payton is an outstanding student. Her academic commitment is incredible. She is organized, achieves deadlines, and is an excellent addition to the classroom dynamic.” Payton is so dedicated to her passion for events that she is volunteering her services at the forthcoming Winter Wonderland Family Festival at STAC on December 4th. This is being organized by the Event Planning and Management class of Fall 2021.”
Payton has a truly bright future in the Hospitality Management world and will continue to brighten and use her creativity for the things she loves to do most.
