Timothy has always been good with numbers, even when he was young. With this gift, Timothy got an early start with an accounting internship prior to enrolling at St. Thomas Aquinas College. He completed his internship and his love for numbers continued, but his passion turned toward the path of Finance and Economics.

Upon arriving at STAC, Timothy’s desire for a career in finance only grew, thanks in part to his extensive time in the Bloomberg Lab, “which is quite unique to have at our fingertips and can be applied in so many ways,” he says. Timothy also credits the Business Club’s trip to CNBC’s Fast Money set, allowing him to gain considerable insight into what it’s like to work in his field of study. Those experiences have helped him gain a stronger interest in his major.

Timothy is an Honors Program student who hopes to work for a bank or financial firm in New York City upon graduation. His Developmental Economics class largely influenced this decision because the coursework focuses on current events like analyzing a developing country and its policy, and gives students an in-depth understanding of how economic policy can change states for the better. With all of this experience and his involvement on campus, Timothy has become a part of the KPMG Mentorship Program and has secured two internships while at STAC.

Timothy shares, “I always take advantage of events going on around campus, from resume workshops to networking events. You never know where something could lead, but you have to show up and put yourself out there.”

Timothy’s own advice has paid off, by way of two internships; the first being with Orange and Rockland. While there, he worked with various engineering software and created a database entry form now used company-wide. Following that internship, Timothy took part in the Sterling National Bank Co-Op Program. During the semester, Timothy reconciled the Federal Reserve account for Sterling in the General Ledger Accounting group and used Fiserv software for everyday accounting functions.

Timothy is about to start his senior year and is looking forward to eventually attending a summer program at The University of Oxford. His advice for future students? “Get involved with on-campus activities, take every opportunity, get to know your professors, and do not be afraid to put yourself out there!”

In his spare time, Timothy likes to fish, watch Lord of the Rings, spend time with his two dogs, work out, and make his own pickles!
