Administrative / ProfesSIONAL POSITIONS
St. Thomas Aquinas College invites applications for a full-time Lab Manager for the School of STEM. The person hired for this position will report to the Dean of the School of STEM. Responsibilities include managing STEM laboratories, serving as the chemical hygiene officer, teaching laboratory sections of the General Biology and/or General Chemistry sequence, supervision of work-study students, advising and participation in STEM program and policy development, and attendance at STEM/College events.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
STEM Laboratory Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory
- Coordinate ordering and receipt of lab materials and supplies, service and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and chemical and biological waste disposal
- Keep laboratories up to all inspection standards
- Manage year-round care for live specimens
Chemical Hygiene Officer:
- Develop and implement the Chemical Hygiene Plan
- Ensure that all laboratory personnel meet lab safety training requirements, which may include conducting safety training
- Ensure that all personnel, students, and visitors observe safety rules and report cases of non-compliance
- Coordinate the testing of lab safety equipment
- Investigate and report incidents related to the use of hazardous chemicals in accordance with federal and state law
Laboratory Instruction:
- Prepare and teach General Biology and/or General Chemistry laboratory courses
- Assist students in the performance of their experiments by instructing and demonstrating proper techniques, ensuring achievement of student learning outcomes, and responding to questions
- Prepare and teach science laboratory activities for summer camps
Other Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage work-study students assigned to work in the laboratories
- Participate in STEM meetings and College events
- Advise students
Qualifications and competencies:
- Master’s degree required
- Experience working in a laboratory setting (2+ years preferred)
- Experience teaching laboratory courses (2+ years preferred)
- Working knowledge of the Laboratory Safety Standard, OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations
- Adapt and apply laboratory methods, practices, and techniques common to the designated science area.
- Perform routine and analytical work needed to prepare reagents, solutions, equipment and materials used in exercises and experiments.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative and professional relationships with laboratory personnel while actively promoting a culture of safety including the implementation and enforcement of laboratory safety requirements.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.

St. Thomas Aquinas College invites applications for a full-time Student Financial Services (SFS) Account Specialist/AR Collections Coordinator. The person hired for this position will report to the Director of Student Financial Services. Responsibilities include supporting the collection efforts of past due balances and resolving and clearing outstanding student debts and issues. In addition to coordinating outreach, monthly billing, and reporting.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Assist Director of SFS and Controller with analysis and review to determine bad debt write offs.
- Monitor current term receivables to define high risk accounts for non-payment and coordinate outreach to support student payment options and next term registration.
- Monitor accounts currently in collections in partnership with our third-party provider.
- Coordinate with SFS team to review outstanding next term FA requirements and assist SFS team with outreach to initiate payment plan/completion of requirements for students to meet Plan to pay deadlines.
- Complete student account analysis for end of term long term payment plans & coordinate outreach for enrollment.
- Assist Director of SFS with reporting.
- Coordinates monthly billing with account specialists and Director of SFS
- Make key recommendations to improve current processing and AR approach.
- Assist with account specialist responsibilities.
- Assist with student communication plans and outreach related to billing and financial aid.
- Assist with other student account duties.
Qualifications and competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Prior accounting experience, with strong focus on accounts receivable
- Worked with proven methodologies for account collections.
- Exceptional communication skills
- Data-driven mindset with strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong skill base in Excel worksheets and Google Sheets, experience working with tableau and MS Access is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills and able to independently prioritize tasks.
Salary Range:

St. Thomas Aquinas College (Sparkill, NY) invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Safety and Security, reporting directly to the Director of Campus Health and Safety. This is a highly visible position on campus that is responsible for ensuring the wellbeing, safety, and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Assists the Director in all day-to-day activities of the Campus Safety and Security function and in the development and implementation of goals, policies, guidelines, and procedures including the IACLEA Accreditation process.
- Coordinates and maintains staffing and duty schedule for officers and manages contract security services. Maintains the campus safety department payroll and ensures that campus safety personnel have the required and appropriate in-service training, certifications, and licensing, as required.
- Recruits and selects a workforce that reflects the diversity of the college community, conducts background checks and completes required administrative tasks for new officers and ensures a work environment respectful of differences.
- Coordinates culturally appropriate training for campus safety staff and students.
- Participates in committees and task force groups including the student behavior intervention and support team; and College threat assessment team, as assigned.
- Conducts health and safety presentations to small and large groups.
- Responds to incidents on campus, determines actions, documents a complete written record of the incidents to meet federal and College reporting requirements.
- Conducts investigations, writes reports, and tracks cases through adjudication.
- Assists the Director in enacting the College’s emergency response and evacuation framework: in fire incidents, bomb threats, hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters, inclement weather, infrastructure failures, and acts of terror.
- Oversee compliance with Federal, State, and Local reporting requirements such as the Clery Act and NYS Educational Law.
- Supervises the fire inspections of all campus buildings on a regular schedule and completes all required local/state fire reports.
- Key member of the after-hours on-call Campus Safety Administrative Team, shift will be primarily evening hours and serves as a Patrol Shift Supervisor as directed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor’s Degree, in lieu of degree, 8 years relevant work experience.
- Relevant experience in law enforcement, security, and/or higher education
- Supervisory experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid New York State Security Guard License or Active Police Officer status.
- Proficient in Google Suite or Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to work evenings, overnights, and weekends, as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Salary
The salary will range from $65,000-$75,000. St. Thomas Aquinas College invites applications for a per diem (880 hours/fiscal year – $40.00/hr) Clinician in our Health and Wellness Department. This position is ideal for licensed eligible individuals who require post-graduate clinical experience for professional licensure. This job entails assisting the Director of Health and Wellness with the delivery of psychological services to a multicultural student body. In addition, this position will also entail the development and presentation of preventative psychoeducational programming to the campus community. This position reports directly to the Director of Health and Wellness for administrative supervision and may consult with any of the other Health and Wellness mental health professionals for clinical supervision (as needed).
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Delivery of psychological services to a multicultural student body, including:
- Evaluation of students who request service for psychological/emotional/personal problems (commensurate with individual license).
- Treatment of student emotional/behavioral problems presented when treatment is both feasible and indicated (commensurate with individual license). This includes conducting individual and group psychotherapy.
- Knowledge and competence in applying empirically supported psychotherapy techniques, treatments, and interventions.
- Referral of students to outside clinics/hospitals/practitioners for treatment when so indicated.
- Follow-up referrals and coordination of treatment when appropriate.
- Conferencing and consultation with student family members and significant others when indicated.
- Pre-admitting of students to psychiatric hospitals when hospitalization is clinically indicated.
- Involving family members and significant others in the hospitalization process of a student.
- Follow-up of a student who returns to STAC after hospitalization, including coordination of on-campus treatment with attending clinician.
- Maintain clinical records as outlined by the ethical and legal standards of the individual’s profession, state law, and Health and Wellness policies and procedures.
- Consulting with the Faculty and Administration regarding student psychological problems including:
- Evaluation of students referred for administrative reasons.
- Reporting of findings of evaluation to appropriate sources (i.e., Dean of Students).
- Written reports of recommendations (regarding student evaluation) to appropriate sources.
- Meeting and working regularly with Residence Life Staff regarding recognition and management of emotional/behavioral problems presented by resident students.
- Development and presentation of psychoeducational programming.
- Cooperative collaboration with other Student Development departments.
- Immediate / top priority crisis intervention when serious problems become evident.
- Development and maintenance of professional relationships with community agencies, groups, hospitals, and practitioners.
- Meeting with the Director of Health and Wellness for administrative supervision.

Education/Experience
- Graduate level mental health degree (degree must entail direct on campus, classroom coursework) with a clinical focus (Psy.D., Ph.D., MA/MS in mental health counseling, MSW)
- Licensure commensurate with the above degree enabling the individual to practice independently in the state of NY without supervision (Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker). Note, clinical and/or administrative supervision may still be required. The individual is responsible for maintaining Active Licensure status in the State of New York for the duration of the appointment.
- Experience with delivering mental health services in person and via telehealth
- While this position is on site at St. Thomas Aquinas College, telehealth modalities may be utilized (if indicated or needed). Knowledge of guidelines commensurate with one’s license and applicable laws is required.
- Maintain individual malpractice insurance policy.
- Experience with conducting individual and group psychotherapy with a college student population (college Psychological Services Center experience preferred).
- Specific experience in crisis intervention required.

Compensation and Schedule
- This is a per diem position, W2, without benefits
- This position pays an hourly rate of $40/hour
- Individuals are asked to provide up to 20-24 hours/week during peak periods on site between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday
- While there is some flexibility, it is asked that the clinician maintain a consistent weekly schedule.

SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS
St. Thomas Aquinas College has an opportunity available for a Campus Safety & Security Officer (Per Diem). This position is responsible for performing activities to ensure the safety and security of all students, faculty and staff, guests, and campus facilities, and to enforce college policy/procedure as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws. Interact with local law enforcement as necessary. Individual must maintain flexible work schedule. Primary work hours will be evenings, nights, and weekends.

- NYS security guard registration
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
