The 53rd Annual St. Thomas Aquinas College Golf Classic will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Rockland Country Club. Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. for registration and brunch. Shotgun is at 12 noon. Reception begins at 5:30 p.m.
This Tournament is one of STAC’s premier fundraising events and is a “driving” force behind our general scholarship efforts. Since its inception in 1972, the Golf Classic has raised more than $4.4 million. Think of the lives changed through the gift of education you make possible. Golfers will enjoy brunch, golf, a quality reception, gifts and giveaways, raffles, and auction items!

2025 Honorees

Mark is a Certified Investment Management Analyst with more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. His areas of focus include retirement planning, wealth transfer, portfolio design, income strategies, and wealth management. He also oversees the marketing and client communications for The Mahoney Group.
Mark co-founded The Mahoney Group with Chris and Kevin Mahoney in 1996 while at Merrill Lynch and transitioned to Raymond James in 2015. Earlier in his career, he worked for several financial firms in New York City. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in business administration from the State University of New York.
He has been recognized for his involvement in the charitable and scholarship initiatives of the Sons of Italy in America. He participates in the annual Thanksgiving food drive in conjunction with the Sons of Italy.
Mark has been deeply involved in youth sports in his community, serving as a board member, basketball director, and coach for both basketball and baseball through Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Recreation. He also played in the Ho-Ho-Kus Men’s Softball League.
Originally from Pearl River, New York, Mark now lives in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, with his wife, Diane. They have two children, Christian and Caroline. In his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, music, films, weight training, playing the drums, and cooking. He is a member of the Vincent Linguanti Lodge of the Sons of Italy in Suffern, New York, and a parishioner at Saint Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus.

Joe Romano is a Portfolio Management Team Leader at BHI USA, the U.S. representative office of a global bank with approximately $200 billion in assets. He oversees a team managing a $7 billion portfolio of middle-market commercial loan facilities across sectors including specialty finance, food and beverage, commercial and industrial, SaaS, and real estate.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration, Joe later earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Business. He began his career at Bankers Trust New York Corporation, holding roles in Asset-Based Lending, Structured Finance, and Investment Banking during an 11-year tenure. He then consulted on business plans and worked in the mortgage industry before joining Seedco (now TruFund), a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution providing financing to businesses located in underserved areas. In 2012, Joe returned to traditional banking as a Global Relationship Manager at HSBC, where he remained for five years before joining BHI in December 2017.
Joe is a parishioner and active member of the Men’s Club at the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville. Formerly a youth basketball coach, he also served as Head of Sports at St. Joseph’s School, overseeing programs for more than 200 student-athletes. In 2003, he helped establish the Over-35 St. Joseph’s Men’s League, which has had over 300 participants across 22 years. Joe has proudly played 40 seasons and continues to play basketball three times a week in local leagues. He is also a regular supporter of organizations like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Americares, and Covenant House.
Originally from Blauvelt, New York, Joe has lived in the Yonkers/Bronxville area since 1988. He spent 34 years in the community with his beloved late wife, Cathy, who had a distinguished 49-year career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A passionate sports fan, Joe also enjoys playing piano, writing, and creating holiday games for his extended family, which includes four sisters, two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, 10 nieces and nephews, and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joe’s father, Joseph R. Romano, Esq., served as a trustee of St. Thomas Aquinas College from 1973 to 1985 and chaired the Board from 1981 to 1985. He was the first recipient of the prestigious Aquinas Medal in recognition of his 15 years of dedicated service to the College. Under his leadership, STAC experienced significant growth and expansion. A respected attorney known for his integrity and service, he was honored in 1989 when the Student-Alumni Center was named in his memory. At the dedication, Joe and his sisters—Beatrice, Christine, Carol, and Elisabeth—unveiled a commemorative plaque bearing their father’s likeness.
