Apply to St. Thomas Aquinas College

The agency partners above or the St. Thomas Aquinas College admissions team will guide you through the following application steps:

  1. Complete your Common Application, including your college essay. 
  2. Have your college counselor send us transcripts from your secondary/high school. We reserve the right to request this document translated into English by a certified translation company.
  3. We are currently waving SAT or ACT Scores. However, if you prefer to use them as part of your English Proficiency requirement, please refer to step 4 below. 
  4. Take either the TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, Pearson PTE English language proficiency exam, Cambridge Assessment English Level B2, or English Live Upper Intermediate Level. Minimum score requirements are as follows:
    • TOEFL- 80
    • IELTS- 6.5
    • Duolingo English Test- 105
    • Pearson PTE English language proficiency exam – 56
    • Cambridge Assessment English Level B2 with a minimum grade of C
    • EF English Live Upper Intermediate Level certificate of completion
  5. OR qualify for an English proficiency testing waiver. Students do NOT need to submit English Language Proficiency Exam results if:
    • Graduating from a US high school
    • Graduating from a high/secondary school where the primary language of instruction is English
    • Graduating from secondary/high school within a country where English is an official language or the most prominent language spoken as per the CIA World Factbook. (English-speaking countries)
    • Receiving an SAT score of 1000+ and 500+ on the English section
    • Earning an ACT combined score of 37+ on the English and reading sections
  6. Facilitate one letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, mentor, or adviser who knows you well. All letters of recommendation can be emailed directly to admissions@stac.edu.

Next Steps

Once you have been admitted to St. Thomas Aquinas College as a full-time student, the college will issue your I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Students so that you can apply for an F-1 Student Visa at your consulate.

To obtain, a Form I-20, you must provide a copy of your passport, your I-20 application, a signed affidavit of cash support, and the following applicable proof of funding:

  1. Personal/Family
    a. Proof of income for each sponsor. This can be the most recent end-of-year tax documents (tax returns) or current proof of payment by employer (pay stubs) dating back at least 6 months.
    b. Bank statements for each sponsor showing at least 12 months of balances and activity. A letter from the bank or a single balance statement IS NOT sufficient.
    c. Affidavits of cash support from each sponsor, containing the name of the source, the amount available for each year of study, the duration of the support, and supporting financial documentation (above) to verify the ability to pay.
    d. Proof of relationship to sponsor. If your sponsor is not of direct relation (parent), then we require proof of relationship.
  2. Business funds:
    a. If you are receiving funds from a business account, you must provide the business registration, which states the name(s) of the business owner(s). 
    b. Also provide a Profit/Loss statement (usually included in the business tax documents) that shows that the business is operating at a yearly profit of at least your total cost of attendance.
    c. Bank account statements for a business will not be accepted.
  3. Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    a. You will receive a financial aid package from St. Thomas Aquinas College stating any scholarships or grants awarded to you annually for four years.
    b. If you are receiving a scholarship from another source, please provide a letter from that source stating the amount awarded to you and the duration of support.
  4. Government or Employer:
    a. If you are receiving funding from a government or employer, please provide a letter from that source stating the amount awarded to you and the duration of support.
  5. Loans:
    a. Official letter from credit institution indicating approval of loan and amount approved.
    b. STAC does not offer loans to international students. If a student wants to take a loan from an American bank they will need a co-signer who is an American citizen.
